The two-volume edition is a milestone in the study and highlighting of the recent history of Lesvos, but also of the islands of the North-East Aegean which joined the Motherland in 1923 with the Treaty of Lausanne, (it defined the borders of the states that are in force to this day ). Today, approximately 200 years since the Greek Revolution and approximately 100 years since the Treaty, the processes are analyzed thanks to which the Greek national identity was consolidated in Lesvos in the period 1821-1923 and the modern Greek statehood was established.

The form, the ways, and the agents of the transmission of the Greek national ideology to the Christian population of Lesbos and the special role of the Church, Education, the unions, and the Greek vice-consulate of Mitilini in the realization of the above goal are presented. The role and participation of the Greek business community and the commercial world in the Struggle for integration into the National Core are also analyzed. The unknown aspect of the action of the Friends of Lesbos and their role in the Great Struggle, the unknown "Zulusi" and the unknown aspects of the participation of Lesbians in the national liberation struggles of Greece are presented.

The second volume includes rare archival material of minutes of meetings and names of Lesvos sponsors and donors from all the villages of Lesvos who, at considerable risk of their lives, helped financially to transform the Temporary Military Annexation in 1912, to the definitive integration of Lesvos into the national body in 1923.
